8th Field Trip
Our 8th graders had an opportunity to view the movie "He Named Me Malala" on Oct. 9. All 193 8th graders had the opportunity and attended this screening along with 15 staff members. Click on this link to get the entire article explaining the reasoning and work it took to give our students this opportunity.
Students are encouraged to wear a COLLEGE t-shirt or sweatshirt on this day to promote college awareness. It's called "College SWAG Day!"

Dear Parents/Guardians, Students, and Community,
Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year! It is with great honor and pride that I join you as the newly appointed principal of Leona Jackson School.
Over the past 14 years, I have shared the District’s vision to provide the students of Paramount with a quality education, ensuring learning and success for all students. My professional experience in the Paramount Unified School District has been broad and varied. I have had the privilege of working as an Assistant Principal and math teacher at the middle school level, as well as an Instructional Coach at the elementary, middle, and high school levels in Paramount.
I would also like to introduce our newly appointed assistant principal, Margie Domino. Mrs. Domino brings more than 19 years of experience with her. Most recently, she served as the English
Language Arts Coach at Keppel School, where she experienced firsthand the positive results that
dedicated students, staff, and parents can have on a school community. She has also served at both Tanner and Jefferson as a classroom teacher and instructional leader. Her involvement with each of these school communities has assisted her in gaining invaluable leadership experience, which will lend itself to her new role.
Knowing that parent involvement is critical in the educational process, we hope that you will join us throughout the year and take an active role in your child’s education. There will be many
opportunities for you to get involved, such as PTSA, School Site Council (SSC), English Learners
Advisory Council (ELAC), parent/teacher meetings, parent workshops, and school-wide celebrations. Our goal is to work closely with all stakeholders in order to provide our children with a quality
education that prepares them to be life-long learners, problem solvers, and innovation thinkers.
We are looking forward to meeting each and every one of you as the year progresses. We appreciate your support and look forward to an exciting new school year! Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
